Data Relief & Data Narrative Video Collage

Acid rain is a form of precipitation containing high levels of nitric and sulphuric acids. This rain that falls on soil, creates more aluminium absorption from soil, and is carried into lakes and streams. It harms both the plants, as well as the animals living in the affected area.

The Data Relief is based on the comparative effects of sulphuric and nitric acid rains (with different pH values) on the metabolic functions of the soil, by determining its pH value (level of acidity). The X-axis denotes the type of acid, Y-axis denotes time (month-wise), and the size of the cavity is directly proportional to the pH value of the soil.

The video opens with the wireframe and phong of the relief before the rain, followed by the dissection of the relief in terms of two different materials: wireframe and phong at each half of the relief, the process of precipitation of acid rain, and finally the effect that the acid has on the soil: corrosive and destructive! The colors emitted and reflected off the relief are the colors of corrosion: rust, brown, and yellow. The cavities which represent the pH value are highlighed in each composition. While the motion goes from less acidic/corrosive to more acidic/corrosive with the progression of frames.
